I’ve been seeing Dr. Miller for two years now and I’ve had a couple of serious dental surgeries. Not only did he and his team make me feel at ease but also feel apart of the Renew Dental family! I’ve come to know the whole team and felt loved & supported through such a long but beautiful journey! I’ve always hated going to to the dentist but ever since I made them my dental family, I never had that feeling again. So if you’re looking for your next dental family this is the place hands down. P.S. I also love Hannah the dental assistant , she’s incredible & all the other dental assistant’s 💕✨. Dr. Miller has an incredible team standing beside him. ♥️
Halloween is almost here. If you’re like most folks, you’ll find yourself with more candy than you want or need when it’s over. A lot of candy isn’t good for your family’s smile. Fortunately, your dentist has some great ideas for leftover candy.
If you haven’t purchased any candy yet, take our advice on that too. Don’t get hard, sticky, or sour candies. All of them are especially hard on teeth. Chocolate is a better choice. It melts fast, so it’s less likely to interact with bacteria in your mouth and cause cavities or other problems.
Renew Dental Arts is happy to look after your family’s smiles. If you need to make an appointment for exams or anything else, call us today at 463-243-5786. In the meantime, check out our tips for what to do with too much candy.
- Put It in the Deep Freeze – Many types of candies freeze well, especially candy bars. In fact, some people prefer them right from the freezer. No thawing needed! If you’re trying to keep your kids – or yourself – from overindulging, stow it behind some other stuff so it’s less visible.
- Add It to Other Goodies – Candy can be used in trail mix, popcorn balls, and other treats. Or try this recipe for a homemade Blizzard. Doing this may not help you cut calories, but combining it with healthier ingredients like popcorn and nuts makes it easier on your teeth.
- Make a Deal With Your Kids – Create an agreement with your kids to give them credits for their candy. They can use the credits to purchase a toy or other item they want. When exchanging candy for credits, focus on the sticky or sour candies that are especially bad for teeth. For the candy that remains, establish a daily limit – something like three candies after dinner, for example.
- Save It for Other Holidays – Pro tip: Buy candy that’s not in Halloween-themed wrappers. That way, you can reuse it for Christmas gift bags or stockings. You can also use it to decorate gingerbread houses, cookies, and cakes.
- Gift It to Others – Put a bowl of candy on your desk at work for clients and coworkers to enjoy, or leave it in the breakroom. Keep a container of candy on your porch with a note for delivery drivers to help themselves. Or hand some to flight attendants as you board a plane. Some nursing homes, homeless shelters, and other facilities welcome donations of sweet treats.
